Seattle

Days 23-27

A few miles around town

Day 1 in Seattle required some park hammock action.

Day 1 in Seattle required some park hammock action.

My first full day in Seattle was spent primarily catching up on work.  I found a spot at a local café and got cracking on some work, work.  After what was probably a solid 6 hours I headed over to my host, Dave, Kyle and Jane’s, to get acquainted and settled in.  Dave is a friend of Andrew, Sarah Eddy’s boyfriend.  Sarah is whose house we stayed at while in Portland, follow?  Any ways we grabbed some take out Thai food for the night and got to chatting.  They were great host and I ended up spending both Tuesday and Wednesday night with them.  Kyle had done his own bike tour with some buddies and showed me the video they had made after completing it.  Check it out here. https://vimeo.com/108058426.  Wednesday was spent primarily doing work again, but I also got to walk around Seattle a little bit and go to REI’s flagship store to pick up a few things I could use for the trip.  I went to dinner with Dave, Kyle and Jane, along with getting in on some trivia with them.  Ryan and Erik got into town, and Lindsey, Erik’s girlfriend was supposed to be landing that night but her flight was delayed till the morning.

Thursday I packed up at Dave, Kyle and Jane’s and got picked up by Jamie and we went to her favorite spot for breakfast then drop my stuff off at her place.  The food was great and it’s been awesome catching up with her along with getting to meet her family.  I grabbed a bus and went downtown after going to meet Erik and Lindsey. Ryan had headed out to SOG to get one of his knives fixed.  When Erik and Lyndsay headed out to see the space needle and some other things, I hit up a Starbucks to get some more work done and then met up with them later at the market before heading to dinner at a brewery in Ballard.  I spent the night at Jamie’s, watching twister, which was awesome then hung out the next morning, getting some work done before Jamie was able to drop me at my friend Hillary’s place, where I would be staying Friday night.  I grabbed some food before Hillary and I headed out to meet the guys at their hotel for a few beers before heading to a Mariners game with Andrew, Sarah, Hillary and her friend.  The game was a blast and a great thing to catch in Seattle.

Saturday I woke up to Hillary’s roommate’s cat sleeping on my face.  His name is Rambo and he was pretty cool for a cat.  We grabbed brunch with two of her friends before I packed up my bike and road out to meet the guys at a friend of Ryan’s for dinner and our last night in Seattle.  Henry and his wife made us a great dinner and it was the perfect, relaxing end to a much needed 5 days of healing and getting better for the ride ahead.

But I was also very anxious to get back on the bike.  I have had essentially one full day of riding in the last 9 and am feeling more than ready to start pumping my legs again.
